Using simulation to explore the potential risks of electromagnetic radiation

Read this article to find out how our simulation software, CAPITOLE RF, highlights the risks associated with exposure to electromagnetic radiation and ensures compliance with current standards.

Enjoy the features of our advanced technology, which will enable you to visualise potential hazards and take effective preventive measures.

With our CAPITOLE RF software, you can protect your team by identifying risk areas and implementing appropriate safety measures.

In this specific use case, we are focusing on the risk of staff exposure to electromagnetic radiation, in compliance with the DREP standard (Directive on Electromagnetic Radiation in the Workplace).

The process for predicting risk areas can be divided into the following three steps:

Import the source radiation diagram for the VHF antenna onto the mesh boat.

Run the simulation using the MS-CBD solver, which is one of the numerical solutions of the integral equations by the method of moments (MoM) available in CAPITOLE RF.

Visualisation of radiation level mapping zones in accordance with the DREP standard (managed natively by CAPITOLE RF) and are therefore able to present prohibited access zones, those reserved for authorised personnel (PH) and unauthorised personnel (PNH).

This type of study is an essential part of both land and maritime defence projects.

Here bellow is the 3d model of the boat used in this study

Red indicates areas reserved exclusively for authorised personnel, where access is strictly forbidden to non-authorised persons.

Yellow identifies areas reserved for authorised personnel, where only those with the appropriate skills are allowed to enter.

Green represents areas accessible to all, where everyone can move around in peace.

The CAPITOLE RF software also allows you to view the antenna’s 3D radiation pattern, as illustrated below:

What are the advantages of our simulation software?

The use of specialised simulation software, such as CAPITOLE RF, offers many advantages in preventing the risks associated with electromagnetic radiation in accordance with current standards.

Through accurate assessment, design optimisation, cost reduction and appropriate training, it becomes possible to guarantee the safety of individuals and equipment while complying with electromagnetic radiation regulations.

Interactive simulations enable users to visualise the effects of radiation and understand the preventive measures that need to be put in place.

Thus, users can acquire the knowledge they need to work safely and comply with the standards in force.
